the saints are interested in Akron CB, Reggie Corner. and are also interested in McNeese DE, Bryan Smith. Plus Pete Carmichael was at matt ryan's pro day..

plus charles grant had surgery on a torn ligament..

yall may know this stuff already.. but if not.. here ya go

I've heard of Bryan Smith and i had heard that Grant played the whole year on a torn ligament. but do you have any information on this kid from Akron. Much appreciated.
Great Recap :9:

Smitty did well at the combine and he is a local kid (slightly). I wouldn't be surprised if they got him 7th or UDFA.

pete carmichael is the saints qb coach, and to the first question, reggie corner is a fifth year senior and led the MAC in ints. with 7 and has 15 career ints. he also tied in conference with 19 pass defends..his forty time was 4.49 and he repped 225 15 times

sounds like a good prospect to groom. If he doesn't end up like David Jones last season and get cut and picked up by another team before he clears waivers, I thought he was pretty good.

Corner looks like a UDFA type of prospect.

11/28/07 - 2007 All-MAC First Team (Media): Defensive Back – Reggie Corner (Canton, Ohio/McKinley HS) started every game for Akron over the past four years and earned first team All-MAC honors after leading the league and ranking fifth in the NCAA in interceptions (0.58 per game). Corner added 12 pass breakups to go along with his seven interceptions to tie teammate Davanzo Tate as the MAC leader in passes defended (1.58), which ranks fifth in the NCAA. His seven picks is the third-best total in the nation to date this season and is fourth on the Akron single-season list. Corner opened the season being named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week after returning an interception 74 yards for a TD in the win over Army. The following week, he had another pick and two pass breakups, one of which led to a Mackey interception. His solid play continued at Indiana, where he had a career-high eight tackles. In Akron’s win over rival Kent State, Corner intercepted a pass and returned it 43 yards to the KSU two, setting up what proved to be Akron’s game-winning TD. He added two picks in the Temple contest and one each versus Miami and Central Michigan. He also closed the season with six PBU over the final three games, including a career-high four versus the Chippewas. Corner ended his career with 197 tackles (52 in 2007), 15 interceptions and 35 PBU. His 15 career picks ties current NFL defensive back Dwight Smith for second on the Akron all-time list. Also, Corner ranks eighth on the MAC all-time list with his 15 career picks and ranks seventh on the MAC all-time list with his 225 career return yards off interceptions. - Akron Sports

im just wondering why would our qb coach be looking at matt ryan?

He's not likely there for that purpose.

It's curious, but:

"In addition to Ryan, there were 16 other players from Boston College's 2007 roster working out, with offensive tackle Gosder Cherilus and safety Jamie Silva other top draws. Three former BC players and 16 players from Bentley, Harvard, Holy Cross, Northeastern, and UMass also worked out."

The saints are looking at somebody. I don't know which one or ones.

A DB or OL?

Why don't we have one thread to list every player the Saints sends scouts to evaluate players instead of having a seperate thread saying the "Saints are interested" in player Joe Blow. Every team are looking at the same players. Each team are send their representatives to evaluate the samer players.

It never hurts to scout players, he may slide to our spot and we can hold a team (that needs a qb) hostage. Maybe pick up an extra second for him, instead of reaching for a player at our spot.

can we get interested in someone that isnt from a school with more than 500 students
