MOBILE, Ala. -- Stephone Anthony had a promising start to his career with the New Orleans Saints.

As a rookie in 2015, the linebacker led the team with 112 tackles and added two forced fumbles, a sack, an interception and five passes defensed.

In 2016, though, he had limited opportunities to make the same impact. Anthony saw the Saints add veteran linebacker James Laurinaitis to replace him in the middle, and with a difficult transition to strong-side linebacker as well as a few injuries, Anthony had minimal impact in his second year.

Despite Anthony's struggles in Year 2, Saints assistant general manager/college scouting director Jeff Ireland remains optimistic about the former first-round pick's future.

"We still believe in Stephone, and I think he's going to have a great year next year," Ireland said Thursday before Senior Bowl practices at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.
