Tulane (March 13)

Fifteen NFL teams were in attendance, including the running backs coaches from Detroit, New Orleans, Jacksonville, Carolina and Houston, as nine prospects worked out outdoors on Field Turf.
» RB Matt Forte (6-1 ¼, 221): Ran position drills and kept his numbers from the combine for everything else. Note: He will have a private workout with the Falcons on March 17 and with the Bears later this month.

trade reggie while value is high and draft matt in the 2nd.

seriously this kid is a friggin beast.

You don't even consider trading reggie without a proven replacement. Geez.

We're not trading Reggie. Sheesh. Anyway, I'd love to have Forte, but there's no telling how interested or uninterested we are in Forte. Of course we went to his workouts...he's a good prospect and all our guys had to do was go across the street to watch him. Personally I'd like to see Thomas have a chance to carry more of the load this year.

The Chicago Bears are getting Forte in the 2nd round.

Write it down.

I can see the Falcons spending one of there second round picks on him to give them a second back!

Think it's possible he falls to round 3?

Yes, I think it's very possible he'll be there when we're up in the 3rd RD. Look no further than former Saint, last years 4th RDer Antonio Pittman. He was the supposed "2nd best" RB in the draft, a predicted late 1st-2nd RD talent. Granted we traded up to get him, but who knows how far he might have fallen.

Its not out of the question that Forte drops into the 3rd. The real question is, who else will be availabe at that spot? What if Zbikowski's there, what if Pat Sims is their, what if Brandon Flowers falls into the 3rd, what if Lawrence Jackson's their, what if...

If those guys are all there, do we like Forte that much to draft him above possible defensive help. Honestly, I like Forte too, but I'd hope we'd go D. I think Pierre Thomas is solid enough to start at RB if Deuce isnt up to speed.

I say at pick 40 its a possibility. But I think we are just intrigued at this point.

If we go defense with our 10th and 40th pick, we are in outstanding shape. But the kicker is that our offense will not have improved for 2 years running.

If Meachem and Bush progress then we are set IMO. But we need Brees to have a stellar 16 games, not just 12 games like last year.
