Team's 3rd highest average since the start of 2016.

That speaks to 2 things:

1) Payton's play calling was off the charts great.
2) Jameis Winston located the correct target in his progressions.
You missed the main point...and it's what people have been pounding the desk for........the deep ball threat.

The number one reason we got that much separation is because GB watched our preseason game and saw Jameis to Callaway....twice deep.

They did 2 things:

1. Made them cover Callaway like a glove....he never had that much separation

And

2. MADE ALL DBs LOOK FOR THE LONG BALL FIRST, PUSHING THEM BACK AND CREATING SPACE......that allowed Jameis to have all day to hit his WRs....like Brees used to do with Colston, Devery etc.

Not really hard to understand.

I do hope Callaway gets to eat eventually. Seems like he’s come too far to become an afterthought.

The only way will be for us to get another threat opposite if him, until MT returns. Now, they have to cover Hogan and Ju....but we need a serious target opposite of Callaway, while MT is out. Maybe that's why we grabbed Stills.

Callaway started seeing bracket coverage, which opened things up for other guys. Which also lightened the box for the running game.

Great game called by Payton, and great execution by Jaboo and the offense. We had a couple drops or else the numbers would have been better.

Callaway got bracketed all game and erased. I think his production will skyrocket when CGM comes back. There are just not many receivers in the league who are always open, those that are make the All Pro teams. Sunday was a reminder that a healthy CGM is one of those few who are just built different.

Speaks to a 3rd thing: Safeties are no longer playing in the box b/c we have a qb who can throw it deep, unlike Drew the last couple of years.

What you're finally seeing is normal spacing. We've been playing in a compressed 20 yard box for the last 5 years. The fact that we've still consistently demolished the regular season while playing like this is simply astounding and a testament to the quality of our o-line and Kamara. If you watch other teams play, they consistently hit what look to be ridiculously easy 20-30 yard completions and we sit there with our hands up asking What the Fork! because we never get those easy yards. Once the safeties actually have to stay on top of the receivers and the LB have to stay in close to prevent Kamara then the entire intermediary zone of come backs, in routes, drags etc become easy.

Oh, I think he will eat well sooner rather than later. After watching game film of the Saints 1st game I think Carolina is going to go box heavy and Calloway will get more single coverage.....
