Pass defense ranked 30th last season

Larry Holder / Biloxi Sun-Herald

The New Orleans Saints had to do something to improve their sketchy pass defense.

The team went the coaching change route as the Saints promoted Dennis Allen to become their new secondary coach. The Saints also removed the assistant tag from Greg McMahon's title to become the special teams coordinator.

Allen replaces Tom Hayes, who the Saints fired last week after a season of porous pass coverage.

The Saints ranked 30th in the league in total pass defense allowing 245.3 yards per game. They also surrendered 32 touchdown passes, tying them with Detroit for the most in the NFL. The team only intercepted 13 passes in 2007 ranking it 28th overall. Full Story - Sun-Herald
