COSTA MESA, Calif. — The New Orleans Saints and Los Angeles Chargers squared off Thursday for the first of two days of joint practices at the Jack Hammett Sports Complex ahead of Sunday’s preseason game.

The two playoff-caliber teams didn’t shy from each other for almost 2 ½ hours, and there was a lot of action and big plays on offense and defense between both starting and backup units.

The day also brought up-and-down performances on both sidelines. The Chargers recorded a couple of interceptions off Drew Brees and Teddy Bridgewater, but the Saints cornerbacks also enjoyed some good moments against the Chargers signal-callers.
