Of the things that went wrong in the New Orleans Saints’ season-opening win over the Detroit Lions on Sunday, their three turnovers might have been the most egregious in the eyes of coach Sean Payton.
But a few special teams miscues may have run a close second, which has resulted in some special emphasis on the problem this week going into this Sunday’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Payton warned in his weekly news conference Monday that the mistakes they made in a 45-27 rout of the Lions, who haven’t won a regular-season game since 2007, could be a much bigger problem against the Eagles.
