Among the several undrafted rookie free agent players the New Orleans Saints have brought in, one has a lot of potential, but also a pending legal case coming up.
Former Wyoming defensive end Carl Granderson put his name to a contract with the Saints after the 2019 NFL Draft, even though he is set to appear in a court this summer.
Granderson is scheduled to be in a Wyoming court for a trial on July 15 relating to sexual assault charges, according to a report from the Casper (Wyoming) Star Tribune.
Saints head coach Sean Payton addressed that fact when speaking during the team’s rookie minicamp, and explained why the organization pursued a player with this legal issue.
“We felt real comfortable with everything we knew, and so far he’s done a good job here,” Payton said following the second day of Saints rookie minicamp this past weekend.
