The New Orleans Saints significantly overhauled their linebacker corps this offseason, but the deployment of the new players has been much different than expected.

With a three-year deal worth up to $8.25 million, James Laurinaitis was the prized addition, but two other 2016 free agents have been the ones solidifying the linebacker position while others have struggled or dealt with injuries.

In August, coach Sean Payton said the Saints valued Craig Robertson and Nate Stupar in part because they were young and had experience on defense, but noted their ability on special teams as a major reason for the deals.
