Just checked NFL.com, and our D is still at #10 after Jets win... But that ranking doesn't tell the whole story.

Two obvious key accomplishments with the Jets win:

First, the Saints D has cracked the under 300 ypg allowed, and we've also cracked the under 17pts a game allowed. As Mora used to say, "If you can keep a team under 17 pts, you'll win a lot of games" ... (And he didn't have this offense.)

Our final ranking after week 4 might still change with Minny still having to play and the Steelers still playing.

On a sweeter note, the Saints D was responsible today for knocking the Jets O from 20th down to 24th now... :worthy:

It is unfair to blame the defense for the miscues caused by the offense, & special teams! They both gave up 23 points, yet their blunders are credited to the defense.

Kfran,

I don't think the rankings change until after the Monday game?

#4 in 3rd down made percentage.
#8 in sacks
#1 in passes defensed
#1 in interceptions
#1 in defensive touchdowns
#16 in ppg allowed

If those rankings are up to date, they will move up to #9 after the Steelers game is over with.

They're up to date on all top 10 teams except Minny (play tomorrow), Eagles (a bye - they won't change), & Steelers (still playing).

I'd like to add some stats here.

13 turnovers.

10 interceptions.

10 sacks.

3 fumble recoveries.

3 defensive touchdowns.

4th least touchdowns given up defensively with 6

8th with 83 rushing yards per game.

9th with yards per rush at 3.7

4th with 3 rushing td's given up.

6th with 6.0 yards per passing attempt.

4th in passing td's given up with 3

Lead the league with QB hits.

Reads like a dominating D to me... :9:

That is because that is yards allowed. Important but the real story is scoring.
Yea but if you look at points allowed which I think is the real story.
We are at no. 7 with 16.5 points av. per game.
Offense is still first if you look at points scored which is 36 per game.
Nets points is 78 total or 19.5 per game.
Now I know the defense scored some of those points and the strip fumble was the defense but our O got them there.
So as a team our scoring is 36 a game and giving up 16.5.
no other team is even close to that.
Saints +19.5 per game
Broncos +13.5 per game
49ers +12.25 per game
Colts +11 per game
Ravens +11 per game
Giants +10.75 per game
every one else less than +10 per game
No. 1 in interceptions with 10
Sacks tied 8th
Turn over ratio I believe +7

Equally entertaining is where our division rivals are currently ranked on D:

24. Carolina Panthers
30. Atlanta Falcons
31. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
