ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Saints are expected to sign free agent Brandon Marshall this week.

Marshall will take Dez Bryant's spot. The Saints worked out Marshall last week and were considering adding him even before Bryant's injury. Marshall didn't show much with Seattle earlier this season but gives the Saints a veteran red-zone presence. He'll push Austin Carr and Ben Watson for targets.

Throwing crap against the wall to see if it sticks?

Can't hurt. Smart player and good veteran presence for a position we are thin at.

This will make Marshall the only player in the NFL to play for more franchises than Brees has defeated.

At this point in the season, there is not much to pick from. You do the best you can and live with it. Marshall may work out may not. Oh well, we have enough to win a championship now.

He's 34 yrs old, but he's still 6' 5" and can catch. We talked about Dez being mostly a 3rd down and redzone target... Brandon Marshall even more so. Basically he'd be what Jimmy Graham would be in our offense.

But look at it this way. The only two things that give our offense any trouble whatsoever is 3rd down and redzone. (and not much of a problem)

The stark difference between the reaction to this signing and the giddy schoolgirl crush that followed signing Bryant is something to behold...

I think there would be more excitement if we were getting a 30 year old Brandon Marshall.
