Taysom's contract is 'affordable' enough that if Payton falls in love with someone else at QB, he's not making too much money that we can't bring someone else in.

It would mean Taysom would be a very expensive backup next year...but Taysom is unlike anything we ever seen. He does so much that he deserves the $ IMO

My theory is that Payton is going full Dr. Frankenstein. He’s going to transplant Drew’s brain into Taysom’s body and then graft Winston’s arm onto it.
