The New Orleans Saints certainly don’t need anymore reasons to dislike the Atlanta Falcons than they already do, but last night employees at the Atlanta airport gave them one additional reminder. According to tweets from quarterback Chase Daniel, tight end Jimmy Graham, and others, the Saints team bus was egged by airport employees moments after landing on the runway and boarding their bus.
In the grand scheme of things, this is really one of those “who cares” type of moments, but it appears to have gotten under the skin of some players such as Graham (who admittedly doesn’t need much ammunition to usually get fired up). In his tweet, Graham sarcastically mocked the Falcons and their “Rise Up” motto, before figuratively shaking his head.
Given this little bit of extra incentive, and given the fact that many on the Falcons clearly dislike the Saints (*cough* Roddy White *cough*), tonight’s game could be a little chippy from the start — especially when you consider the Falcons will be trying to avenge their only loss of the season to this point.
As of now the Saints clearly are the ones laughing, not just at childish antics such as egg throwing, but also at their dominance over the Falcons. Since the Sean Payton and Drew Brees eras began in 2006, the Saints are 11-2 against their biggest division rivals, and another victory over the Falcons on the national stage could potentially leave Falcons fans and players wondering if they will ever truly be good enough to beat the best teams in the league when it counts. In other words, the Falcons have a chance tonight to avoid “laying an egg.”
