New Orleans Saints rookie offensive lineman Avery Young stayed in shape while on the non-football injury (NFI) list through training and physical therapy.
Young, who declined to disclose the nature of his injury, can now work on the field with teammates after the Saints on Tuesday designated him as returned to practice.
While he is happy to be back on the field, Young indicated Wednesday that he doesn't want to rush how he approaches the workouts.
"I've been out, a little banged up, and just really be smart about what I'm doing in the process of getting back out there," Young said. "Getting back out there and I'm not where I want to be, bad things happen. So, I just want to make sure I work my way back into it and just see where it takes me from there."
