Saints GM Mickey Loomis Media Availability’s Live Updates, January 13, 2025 (1 Viewer)

Ehhhh... Could of shown some humility and self awareness, but that's Mickey.

There are minor things teams can change to make improvements. But there isn't a massive restructuring of things that makes any sense. Footballs teams are run pretty much the same across the board. It really comes down to people. I don't think they lack experience in the front office, but maybe they relied a little too heavily on the coaches to make draft/roster decisions like they did with Payton who was a bit better at it than DA clearly was. It's a tweak to the mindset, but the way they had been doing it wasn't really wrong because it works lots of places. I don't know. I'm not the biggest Loomis defender in the world, but he was decent today.

Compared to last year disaster of presser. This is much more palatable

I hate how much control Loomis and the Saints have over local media. Like others have said he would be torched and eventually forced out if he was in New York or LA. In New Orleans he controls the narrative, what stories get out or get squashed, and generally only gets cheerleading from the press. Local reporters live in dire fear he will shut them out. No one is willing to report that Emperor Loomis has no clothes.

people want to sky scream about random one liners like giving a great one liner actually does anything but just put words into existence.

at the end of the day, the tasks at hand are hiring the best coach possible, keep the players that fit into the direction you want to go and draft the best pieces possible. One liners are just words.

Well, that's his glass half full thing. It's a caveat, but I'm fine with the answer.

I'm not because that's what gets almost 3 years from an incompetent coach....he glass half fulled us to 5-12.....

that said, he said some good things and yes, compared to last year's disaster this PC was at least, not embarrassing....I still don't want him making decisions and would like to believe what he says about it will be the group's decision on the HC....

He's a lot easier to listen to when he's not trying to be unreasonably defensive about Allen. Take Allen out of the picture and he's back to his old self.

Mickey Loomis: neither complacent nor disruptive.

He is just "patient". Patience is a good thing if your train is headed in right direction and toward the destination you want. But if it isn't, something needs to change quickly. Is our destination Super Bowl or bust, or just being good enough? I'm honestly not sure what Loomis sees as a successful season privately.

I thought the questions were fine given the setting. Not like he'd answer them properly anyways which makes the asking the tough question pointless. Basically asking them to risk their careers just so he answers, "look beyond the results."

They were trying to get more info on things he could have done differently to support Allen and he wouldn't go into it.
