The New Orleans Saints were pushing the ball down the field, and overtime looked like a possibility.
Then, it happened again.
Terrance Copper caught a pass from Saints quarterback Drew Brees for a big gain in the final minute Sunday at Pittsburgh, but he fumbled at the Steelers' 20-yard line.
The Saints' hopes of a 7-2 start were over.
The defending Super Bowl champions had survived.
The Saints face another playoff team from 2005 on Sunday, a team that has underachieved for much of this season. The Saints face the Cincinnati Bengals in the Louisiana Superdome, and a victory in that game could put the Saints in motion to make their first playoff appearance since 2000.
They just can't turn the ball over.
