Saints have worst backup QB in the league (1 Viewer)

The good news / bad news is that he hasn't gotten a lot of playing time for the Saints so we don't really know what he can or can't do.

yeah, I saw this back when they did it.

whatever, I'd take Martin over all QB's on Atlanta, Miami and Kansas City.

"After a great 2006 season, Brees struggled some in 2007 behind a shaky offensive line..."

After I read this, I figured the person didn't know what he was talking about and I stopped reading. He doesn't even know that the Saints allowed the fewest sacks by far last season, and considering that Brees set a new record for pass attempts speaks volumes about this guy's lack of knowledge. Furthermore, that he has Romo, Roethlisberger, and Hasselback ahead of Brees only adds to the suspicion he is a clueless writer. Typical of the ESPN Scouts, though.

I won't really argue. Popular opinion among fans seems to have been that Martin is not nearly good enough to give us any hope if we needed to use him during the season. We've been disappointed for a while that we can't get a new backup QB. But now an outside source is saying he is the WORST backup QB. Like I said, I won't argue. I hope we upgrade. At the very least, we should have a mediocre backup QB.

Scouts Inc consistently has the worst analysis of all of the major sport journalism outlets. This comment has nothing specific to do with this thread, this is a drum i've been beating for a loooong time. Scouts Inc. is an embarrassment to ESPN, and that's saying something.

There is NO WAY he is worse than Tarvaris Jackson...

Oh, wait, he's a starter. :hihi:

What QB's do they have ranked above Brees?

When you look at his career stats, Martin is a good fit for the Saints offense with a 65.6% completion percentage and 7.0 yards per attempt. He's no Drew Brees, but his accuracy is such that you don't have to rebuild the offense.

Not the worst backup the Saints could have -- though at his age, his upside (e.g., grooming a rookie to step in or be traded for value) is limited.

I'd like to see Payton develop somebody like Colt Brennan if we can manage to scoop him up with a 6th or 7th round pick. He might fall that far given his Senior Bowl performance. As far as a vet. QB goes, I wouldn't mind if we signed Daunte Culpepper. He's got experience and I think he would be an upgrade over Martin. I don't think Culpepper is going to find a starting job this year. Of course, we could always sign Aaron Brooks! (just kidding on that one! :mwink: ) I'm sure he's at home, sitting on the couch, eating Doritos, playing Playstation and looking for work.

and why did they allowed only a few sacks ? because drew brees got rid of the ball before he wanted the , the most times. you can see it in his high interception numbers. the person is right.... last year was the same , but our receivers were more successfull in making catches. + our run blocking is very below average the last two years.
as i posted before.... i wouldn´t mind clady as an option.... better than reaching for rivers or going bpa with desean jackson.
