It has been inspiring to watch the New Orleans Saints return to the city, sell out season tickets and build the opposite record of the Super Bowl champion Pittsburgh Steelers.
It's hard to believe the Steelers have the same record as the Detroit Lions.
It has been a first half of extremes.
Sean Payton has done a wonderful job coaching a New Orleans team that won three games a year ago when displaced by Hurricane Katrina.
The return to the Superdome while much of the city is still a pile of destruction would have been a distraction to some teams, but the Saints brought the fans along for the ride. They let them use sports as a distraction. They have made themselves worth watching.
