New Orleans Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro has played for the last time in 2016.
The versatile defensive back is dropping his appeal of a suspension related to a failed test for performance-enhancing drugs, coach Sean Payton announced Friday.
"It was something that he spent some time talking about it," Payton said. "We spoke with him, and I think, so it doesn't carry into next season, it makes a lot of sense."
Vaccaro's suspension was initially reported by NFL Network on Nov. 10, but between a second test and the appeal, he continued to play while awaiting final word from the league.
Vaccaro ranks second on the team with 68 tackles. He also has five tackles for loss, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, one sack, eight quarterback hits and five passes defensed.
