The New Orleans Saints got their first game-changing return last week against Carolina.
Tommylee Lewis fielded a punt and headed right, cut through three Panthers to get upfield, stepped through a tackle and ripped off 59 yards, brought down only when he tried to fake his way past punter Andy Lee and ended up losing his balance.
Lewis' stumble kept him out of the end zone, but he also gave the Saints' return game a much-needed spark. New Orleans is now averaging 12.6 yards per punt return, but the Saints have only been able to produce 17.1 yards per kickoff return, which ranks 30th in the NFL.
