*Trade* The New Orleans trade 1[10] to <st1:city><st1>Philadelphia</st1></st1:city> for 1[19] and CB Lito Sheppard.
<o></o>
1[19] DT Trevor Laws [Notre Dame]
<o></o>
Name a negative about Trevor Laws? He isn&#8217;t tall enough. Well he is the same height as both top 5 DTs [Dorsey/Ellis]. He is not strong enough. He out benched Sedrick Ellis [35-34] and Glen Dorsey [35-27]. He is not explosive as the top guys. Watch the Senior Bowl and tell me the same thing and then look at his 40 [an over valued test] where he beat both the top guys. The Saints problems at DT have stemmed from picking players who were fat with poor work ethic [Sullivan/Jackson/Thomas]. Laws will not be outworked he will come into camp in shape and give you 100% on the field. He might be undersized at 6&#8217;1&#8221; 306lbs but he is in the mold of what coach O looks for in a DT.

2[41] LB Xavier Adibi [Virginia Tech]
<o></o>
The Saints have a present at WLB in Dan Morgan, but they need a future and with Morgan&#8217;s health they need it right now. Xavier Adibi combines the size [6&#8217;1&#8221; 233lbs] with good speed and a game changing mentality. He makes plays all over the field and he brings an added dimension in the passing game.

3[73] S Tom Zbikowski [Notre Dame]
<o></o>
The Saints situation at S is good as long as you don&#8217;t look past Roman Harper. After Harper you have a journey men Kevin Kesviharn and a bust of a 2nd round pick in Bullocks. Where Marques Colston is a big play waiting to happen for our offense Josh Bullocks is a big play waiting to happen for the other teams offense. Zbikowiski might have some physical limitations but he has a winning attitude that is infectious and a toughness that the defense needs, the guy challenged combine strength coach Jon Lott to a fight after he called him Rudy.

</o>5. C Cody Wallace [<st1:state><st1>Texas A&M</st1></st1:state>]
<o></o>
With Jeff Faine getting 37 million dollars to back pedal while run blocking the Saints need to add depth behind Jonathan Goodwin. Wallace needs to add strength but he has the size to come in at backup.

6. DT <st1:city><st1>Carlton</st1></st1:city> Powell [Virginia Tech]
<o></o>
Powell has better size [6&#8217;2&#8221; 300lbs] then Laws and could provide depth at the NT spot in case Thomas jumps into the grave he has one foot in already.

<o></o>
7. TE Cole Bennett [<st1:city><st1>Auburn</st1></st1:city>]
<o></o>
A big bruising SEC TE who can fill the role of TE in the run game.

no more notre dame players. They are soft and overrated! Dont let your colors show so much.

Long time reader, Very first time posting. This is by far the mock draft I like the best.

I recently read a quote about football 101 from Tony Dungy. The closer to the football, the bigger difference the player can make, hence the pleasure with the two top picks in particular. The game film I've been able to find on those two are very impressive and I have the opinion that the first few draft picks should be able to make an impact by season's end.
I also believe that our back field will be much improved this year and if we wait until the third round to get a solid, intelligent corner then I'm okay with that.

Humungous Saints Fan in Chicago,
We should be able to repay the bears for the last couple of games they beat us.

Conrad, I have to give you props on your mock draft. I think you did an excellent job and it does indeed address most of our needs. While, I do agree that trading down in the first and picking up Lito would be great, I'm afraid with all the rumblings that the Eagles will want more...possibly a fifth rounder also. I personally think he isn't worth that much, but I'm not the Eagles ;)

Again, great job and I agree that picking up Trevor in the mid first round is an excellent way to start. Getting Lito and then coming right back in the second and picking up a WLB would give this team some serious momentum heading into TC!!!

i dont know about reaching that high for laws... he's a very popular 2nd round pick in our mocks, I think hes still there at 41... or at least somewhere where we can trade up a few to get him in the 2nd

Beside the mock drafts where we somehow get Dorsey or Ellis, this is without a doubt my favorite mock. Great job:bravo-applaudi-147:

I definitely like the players you pick. But, based on all the draft sites, we can probably get every player you pick in round later or by trading up. Probably get laws in the early second, we can back into mid to late second and grab adibi. That way we can use that 18th pick on maybe Kenny philips, possibly chris williams.

But, the rankings are all subjective, so in the end, it is still very good mock.

Name a negative about Laws?

How about the fact that prior to pre-draft workouts he was considered a mid-round pick?
How about the fact that during his college career he was a solid hustle guy, but not a difference maker?

The guy is the definition of workout warrior. Definitely the most overrated player on this board.

Very good I like the selections. You might want to add Dexter Jackson, WR, to the mix. We could use a return specialist.

i like it but i dont think laws is a 1st round pick i think we take the best player and then take laws in the second

I like Laws but that is too high.

As far as a negative, it has already been said. I pay more attention to what he did in the games. Was he a difference maker? I don't think so.

Overall, I would still take this draft.
