Trade

New Orleans trades 1[10] and 4[112] to Detroit for 1[15] and 2[47] and Detroit selects OT Ryan Clady.

Draft
<o></o>
1[15] LB Curtis Lofton [OU]
<o></o>
The Saints need an impact player at MLB and they have needed one for a number of years. Lofton does not have elite measurables at 6’ 240lbs. but he is an explosive player that simply makes plays when he is on the field.

2[42] DT Frank Okam [<st1:state><st1>Texas</st1></st1:state>]
<o></o>
The Saints grab an undersized MLB in the 1st and now they grab him some protection. When the Ravens won the superbowl they had an undersized MLB and a couple of 330lbs. DTs in front of him. At 6’5” 330lbs. Okam and Hollis Thomas will form a wall in the middle of the defense.

<o></o>
2[47] <st1>S DaJuan</st1> Morgan [NC State]
<o></o>
The Saints need a centerfielder in the secondary of the defense and Josh Bullocks simply is not good. I think that Kesviharn will start the season and Morgan who has good size at 6’1” 205lbs. and speed will be developed to take the role.

<o></o>
3[74] TE JerMichael Finley [<st1:state><st1>Texas</st1></st1:state>]
<o></o>
Finley is exceptionally raw but he is also exceptionally talented. At 6’5” 240lbs. he has the size and speed to be a 1st round pick next year and the Saints should be happy with a bargain even though it may take a year to get at the potential.

<o></o>
5. DE Marcus Howard [<st1:country-region><st1>Georgia</st1></st1:country-region>]
<o></o>
He is undersized at 6’2” 250lbs. but he has great speed and pass rush ability. He will contribute on 3rd down and allow Charles Grant to move inside on passing downs.

<o></o>
<o></o>
6. QB Josh Johnson [<st1:city><st1>San Diego</st1></st1:city>]
<o></o>
The Saints could use a developmental QB and possible long term backup to Brees as Martens is not getting any younger. Johnson has unique physical skills and who knows what Payton can do with him.

<o></o>
7. CB Marcus Walker [OU]
<o></o>
No harm in adding more CBs to the roster.

I have my doubts about Florence i think he could turn out to be another jason david we need a #1 corner like Samuels, I wouldnt dump money into another #2 corner but thats just me

Kwame Harris is the worst football player in any league anywhere. Otherwise it looks okay. I especially like the DeMorrio Williams signing and I'm really getting into Lofton.

I'd pass on harris too. Ill take florence. we need some veteran signing at CB this offseason and I dont want to break the bank on samuels. trufant maybe. but he would come in slightly cheaper than samuels. otherwise we have david starting opposite young. ouch.

as for the draft. I like the idea of trading down and scooping up a couple LB's or an LB and tackle in the later 1st early 2nd.

Well done on the mock must have taken you ages!! I like what you are saying except I would rather us go for 1 of the Elite CB's that will be available.

Good job... Looks like it took a little time, and I really like the trade and the Lofton pick.

However, what do you have happenning at WR for us with Patten, Henderson, and Copper all heading into free-agency? Also, I saw the TE pick... but you say he is really raw; we'd still need to sign either Johnson or Miller back up.

How about the O-line, with Faine, Goodwin, and Nesbit all set to hit the FA market? Who do we re-sign out of that group.

I'm hoping we draft or sign a KR/PR specialist at some point in the draft. It's a missing part of our team.

1370(Saints) for 1480(Lions) in trade value points. It would be a fair trade.

If you guys don't like Stinch you will hate Harris. I remember when the Saints played the 49ers and I was chatting on one of their site how bad they said he was. His biggest problem is that he is slow off the snap and speed rushes kill him so he tries to hard and jumps off side a lot.

way too early for Lofton

I love the first pick......and as of right now it looks like the Saints could possibly move down a little and still get Lofton. Things may change, and he may rocket higher like Patrick Willis did last year.

But I really like some of the players that may be there at #10. Lofton & Gholston top my wish list for possible number ones for the Saints.

Disagree. Florence can be passed on, but the Chargers run a 3-4 and send 5 almost every down and keep their safeties dropped back over the top leaving their corners mostly in man with safety help. Nothing like David who came from a cover 2. Florence is a much better fit for the Saints and frankly if McKenzie didn't get hurt he would be a perfect signing.
