Draft<o></o>
<o></o>
*The New Orleans Saints trade 1[10] to the Minnesota Vikings for 1[17] and 3[81]. The Vikings select DE Derrick Harvey [<st1:state><st1>Florida</st1></st1:state>]<o></o>
1[17] LB Curtis Lofton [OU]
<o></o>
Lofton might not have elite size [6’ 240lbs] but he is the heat seeking missile that the Saints need at MLB. His stats at <st1:state><st1>Oklahoma</st1></st1:state> this year were insane and so is the style that he plays. He will bring an entire new level of intensity to the defense and speed to the MLB spot.
<o></o>
<o></o>
2[42] CB Patrick Lee [<st1:city><st1>Auburn</st1></st1:city>]
<o></o>
Lee only started one year at <st1:city><st1>Auburn</st1></st1:city>, but he has the physical skills and man coverage ability that the Saints need. Lee who has good size [6’ 198lbs] and showed at the Senior Bowl that he has the ball skills to pick off passes and create in the passing game.
<o></o>
<o></o>
3[74] LB Tavares Gooden [<st1:city><st1>Miami</st1></st1:city>]
<o></o>
The Saints need to continue to grab a difference makers at the LB spot. Gooden is a physically gifted LB at 6’1” 232lbs. and an estimated 40 of 4.45 and he has played every LB spot at <st1:city><st1>Miami</st1></st1:city> a school that creates NFL linebackers. He falls because of inconsistency but he has the physical skills that the Saints defense needs. He could easily be starting at weakside LB by the end of the year.
<o></o>
<o></o>
3[81] DT Andre Fluellen [<st1:street><st1:address>Florida St</st1:address></st1:street>.]
<o></o>
At 6’1” 295lbs. he is not huge, but he has an explosive first step and he penetrates up field. He is built in the mold of a Coach Ogereon defensive lineman.
<o></o>
<o></o>
<o></o>
4. CB Trae Williams [<st1>South Florida</st1>]
<o></o>
Undersized but very fast and has played in a man cover system that put a premium on the Saints style of bump and run coverage.
<o></o>
<o></o>
<o></o>
5. WR Dexter Jackson [<st1:street><st1:address>Apalachian St</st1:address></st1:street>.]
<st1:city><st1>Jackson</st1></st1:city> is the deep speed that will be lacking when <st1:city><st1>Henderson</st1></st1:city> is allowed to walk. <st1:city><st1>Jackson</st1></st1:city> also has elite kick return ability.
<o></o>
<o></o>
6. DE Jeremy Thompson [<st1><st1lacename>Wake</st1lacename> <st1lacetype>Forest</st1lacetype></st1>]
<o></o>
A third down pass rushing threat with the frame [6’5” 260lbs] to develop into a starter. He would increase the Saints ability to get to the QB, which the Giants proved was very important.
<o></o>
<o></o>
7. TE Chris Wagner [<st1:street><st1:address>South Dakota St</st1:address></st1:street>.]
<o></o>
Wagner is a big [6’7” 262lbs.] target that might not have elite speed but he can block and make the tough catch.
