New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton spoke with local reporters on conference call Wednesday, but he didn’t seem eager to dig into the lack of contributions from wide receiver Brandon Marshall.
When asked if the emergence of rookie wideout Keith Kirkwood has influenced their decision to keep Marshall on the bench, Payton offered little explanation beyond how personnel decisions factor into game plans:
“Each week, we are taking a look at where we’re at with our personnel and doing what’s best for that game.”
Payton wasn’t much more talkative when prompted to discuss what the team has seen from Marshall in practice, offering a few platitudes about the veteran receiver’s size and strength:
“I think he’s picked up what we’re doing. He’s a big target. He’s strong. I think he’s a quick study.”...
