Once again, the New Orleans Saints just had to make it interesting.
Despite a dominant offensive effort in the first half, the Saints needed a 52-yard field goal from Wil Lutz with 11 seconds remaining to beat the Carolina Panthers, 41-38 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday.
Quarterback Drew Brees was mostly sharp, finishing 35 of 50 for 467 yards with four touchdowns and one interception. He did well to move the Saints into field-goal range on their final drive.
Panthers quarterback Cam Newton overcame a shaky first half to help his team fight back from a big deficit. He finished 27 of 47 for 314 yards with two touchdowns and one interception, but was harassed in the pocket for much of the game.
