TAMPA, Fla. -- For the second straight week, the New Orleans Saints offense couldn't match its typical potency.

And after a sloppy 16-11 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the Saints (5-8) are now a step closer to being mathematically eliminated from the postseason as they're three games back of both the Bucs (8-5) and Atlanta Falcons (8-5) in the NFC South standings with just three weeks remaining in the season.

Quarterback Drew Brees finished 25 of 41 for 257 yards with three interceptions. It was his second consecutive game without a touchdown pass, something he hadn't done since Weeks 3 and 4 of 2009. Running back Travaris Cadet and wide receiver Brandin Cooks each dropped potential touchdowns that would've altered the game and Brees' final stats.

The defense held Tampa Bay to 270 yards, something that surely would've led to a Saints victory most weeks.
