Now it’s just a matter of playing for pride for the New Orleans Saints.

The spoiler role will likely come into play in the final two weeks against old division opponents, but Sunday afternoon in Arizona will simply be about pride.

The Saints bowed out with last week’s disgusting loss at Tampa Bay. The Cardinals did so while watching Seattle beat St. Louis on Thursday night.

So a game that appeared to be so promising when the schedule was first released, even as late as two weeks ago, is now meaningless in terms of winning seasons or playoff runs.

Other than that Katrina season of 2005, the Saints haven’t won fewer than seven games in a season. That’s obviously in serious jeopardy this season after wasting so many quality performances earlier this season.
