Saints pass D worse than Bills? (1 Viewer)

It seems as though Bill's fans are grasping to make themselves feel good about Sunday....It can't get here soon enough....

Someone may have already said this, but when you're blowing teams out you're going to give up yards in the passing game b/c your opponent starts throwing the ball often and taking shots trying to play catchup.

Don't mind the yards, keep the points of the board, and take advantage of the opportunities to get some turnovers.

The penalty stat doesn't make sense. When I looked up each individual box score, we had 9 for 71 yds against the pats and 7 for 55 yards against the bucs. So that is only 16 for 126 yds. Which is still a lot.

Well the Bills haven't had the luxury of playing two qb's who have never started a game. So you can't really bring that argument to the table.

But you've had the luxury of playing a slow statue in Leftwich.

Everyone knows the Bills have the 31st ranked pass defense. But did you know the Saints defense gives up more yards per attempt?

Bills 6.5 yds/attempt
Saints 6.7 yds/attempt

And it turns out that the Saints might have the better rush defense.

Bills 3.1 yds/ attempt
Saints 2.7 yds/attempt

To be fair. Both teams have top 15 pass defenses based on attempts. And both teams have top 10 rush defenses based on attempts.

Come back with new stats after this week ;)

True, but also when your blowing teams out and they have to throw on you that also gives you MUCH more opportunity to get turnovers and not to mention the QB's that were doing the throwing.
I think they pretty much cancel each other out. Take off some of the passing yards and take away a couple of ints.

Figured it out. The original penalty stat was penalties our opponents had. The Bucs had like 13 penalties for 120 something yards by themselves.

He's just mad that we got their best corner, from last year. Thank for Greer:mwink:

Greer is very good. Looking forward to seeing him again. Him and McGee have been great corners for us. I remember when Greer broke out in the 2007 season. He had some very nice coverage on Randy Moss, still got lit up for like 4 tds of course. But the coverage was very tight. He had a great break up on a pass in the endzone for T.O. that year on a two point conversion too.

Well we've both been passed on the most in the NFL, so it's hard to tell by yardage. Buffalo 103 times, New Orleans 89. If you look deeper....

We have the 3rd best completion percentage in the league at 52.8%
Buffalo has the 11th worst at 63.1%
We have the best* opponent QB rating at 53.4
Buffalo is middle of the pack at 89.0
We've given up 2 TD's, Buffalo has given up 5.
We have 6 interceptions. Buffalo has 3.
We have 2 sacks, they have 3.

We have Drew Brees....:ezbill:

*or worst however you look at it.

Not sure. It might actually be the one DeSean Jackson play. That was the longest pass play on you guys. 71 yards I think? compared to the Bills longest pass play of I think about 43 yards? that is probably the difference there.

Saints have given up a little less then 200 yards passing per game in meaningful game time, with 2 big pass plays (1 to Calvin Johnson and 1 to Desean Jackson).

The majority of yards given up and yards per attempt came in garbage time as we blew teams out against a 2-deep coverage with the safeties way deep.
