ATLANTA – New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton declined to comment on reports he might be interested in leaving the Saints to coach the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, the third time he's dismissed a question about the reports.

The players who have been with Payton the longest expect him to return in 2017.

For the Saints, it's the second consecutive season that they have had to answer questions about Payton after a season-ending game in Atlanta, the finale of a 7-9 season.

"Of course, he's not going to answer," right tackle Zach Strief said. "Why would he answer that? ... It just keeps coming. It's going to happen every year we're 7-9. It just comes with the territory."

According to multiple NFL.com and CBS Sports reports citing anonymous sources, there is mutual interest between Payton and the Los Angeles Rams, who fired Jeff Fisher with three games left in the season.
