Saints post-minicamp roster moves (official) (1 Viewer)

Hoping beyond hope SOMEONE takes the lead in camp and preseason at kick returner. Continually amazing how this offense is consistently top-five in the league with precious little help from the return game.

Isn't that why the Saints signed one of the best return men in football as a FA?

I'll go out on a limb here and say that as talented top to bottom as the Saints entire roster is that none of these guys will make the team.

Sherels was signed as a return specialist who just so happens to also be a #6 CB. He'd probably be listed as a KR/PR specialist on the roster if that's how he was listed when we signed him.

I know. I'd like to see a RB who is younger, cheaper and could contribute more on offense than Sherels would on defense beat him out.

I would guess Deonte Harris

At first, I thought Sherels was gonna be a KR/PR too. But I looked up his stats:

Seems he did well as a PR, but he was only used sparingly as a KR. However, it doesn’t diminish the importance of signing Sherels, because punt returning is the more difficult of the 2, it was an area of need, and he has been consistent/ solid at the position.

That said, it could open the door for a player like Grayson or Harris to get a close look as KR.

We’ll see.

Sylvester Williams aint no camp body. With shortage at DT, he has better than 50% chance to make the roster.

Sylvester Williams was not a bust at Denver. Started 4 years. Was on the defense that won the Super Bowl in 2016. Then, signed with Tennessee but was cut in 2018. Signed with Detroit and Miami in 2018. Doesn't have a lot of stats. According to Rotoworld "Williams was released by the Titans in 2018, but that had more to do with his salary than level of play. " He is projected as a backup run stuffing DT.
