They came wearing their flag football jerseys. They came with parents wearing New Orleans Saints T-shirts and No. 9 Saints jerseys. They came ready to see quarterback Drew Brees.
Dozens of Football N America flag football players filled the auditorium at LSUS on Wednesday afternoon waiting for Brees, the co-founder of FNA.
When he arrived -- after having gone through a practice earlier in the day in Metairie -- he was met with a raucous crowd.
"We've got to have more Saints fans in Shreveport than Cowboys fans, right?'' Brees asked a crowd which responded with loud cheers.
Brees talked for several minutes about the FNA -- its origin and growth and what the future holds for flag football.
Then he took questions from local FNA players and their parents.
