DID YOU SEE MARQUES COLSTON
Compiled by Jimmy Smith/Times-Picayune
Hopefully when Colston, the fourth-to-last player picked in April's draft, negotiated his contract before the start of the regular season, he had the foresight to ask for a bonus should he be selected Rookie of the Year. It would have been a long shot, to be sure, but Colston is well on his way to securing the award. He caught 11 passes -- a career-high on any level, he said -- for 123 yards and a touchdown.
Colston has become quarterback Drew Brees' go-to receiver in clutch situations. Four of Colston's catches Sunday came on third downs and resulted in first downs. A total of 31 of his 44 catches have gone for first downs. "Let's just keep him our little secret," Brees said afterward.
Too late for that, though.
"Colston made some huge plays for us," Coach Sean Payton said. "You watch the game and you watch his presence, it's significant."
