Saints release LB James Laurinaitis (edited) (1 Viewer)

I like what Mike Detillier said about the move. Time for Anthony to take back his MLB spot back. I love what Robertson is doing, but he will keep making plays no matter where and I'd like to see our damn first round draft pick make an impact on the field!

Good luck James. I was pulling for you. Wish it would have worked out.
Me too, I was super pumped when we signed him. Too bad we didn't get the 5 years ago version of him. Seemed like a good dude, wish him the best in whatever life has for him going forward. I'd imagine football has passed him by at this point...at least as a player

Even during pre-season, you could see he was a step late everywhere, and looking back on his career stats, there was already a pretty precipitous drop-off in solo tackles and passes defensed the last three years. I would be surprised if he plays again.

We hoped to catch a death-rattle year from his career, and it didn't work out. It happens. He had a very solid and honest NFL career, but Father Time spares no one.

Considering there was an injury settlement, it's a bit premature to break out the "omg dead/wasted money" memes.

Good luck to James in whatever he pursues from here.

It's 250k dead if we didn't get it even lower with the injury settlement.

draft needs becoming clearer

We drafted our Middle Linebacker last year and after a productive rookie year decided to play him out of position his sophmore year to make room for a veteran presence who lacked the athletic ability and productivity of the rookie.

What did Detillier say? It's always been my thought that this team will need to know if Anthony has progressed by the end of the year. I'd expect him to return to the lineup at some point.

Goes to show how much we all know. How many people on here would have guessed Robertson and Stupar would be better then Laurinaitis? I can't say I was excited about him but I also had never even heard of the other two guys. I guess it all worked out okay for us. Also goes to show how bad our linebackers have been for like two decades with the exception of Vilma and Fujita.

I was expecting Robertson to come in and do exactly what he is doing.

I watched highlights of him when the Saints signed him and disagreed with some people who said he was signed for depth. That guy is a stud with a nose for the ball!!...............:9:
