The Saints continued effort to shore up their secondary led to the signing of cornerback Aaron Glenn, a 14-year NFL veteran, to a one-year contract.
Glenn, who has played with the New York Jets, Houston, Dallas and most recently Jacksonville, will be counted on to help a pass defense that ranked 30th in the league last season in allowing 245.2 yards per game. The Saints also gave up 32 touchdown passes, which tied for most in the NFL.
Glenn is a former first-round draft pick of the Jets who started four games for Jacksonville in 2007. He has 41 career interceptions with six going for touchdowns. He ranks fifth among active NFL players in interceptions.
