Cut last Friday, May 10, former Utah linebacker Chase Hansen resigned with the Saints this afternoon, Tuesday, May 14.

Former Utah linebacker Chase Hansen joined the Saints immediately following the 2019 NFL Draft as an undrafted rookie free agent. He was cut just this past Friday along with Monmouth tight end Jake Powell and former Grambling running back Martez Carter. According to the Times-Picayune’s Josh Katzenstein, he’s been signed back.

He had been dealing with issues since having surgery in January to repair a herniated disk in his back, but it’s not clear why he was cut or what happened to get him resigned. But Hansen, even entering a crowded field competing for little space at linebacker in Saints camp, is considered a potential dark horse to make the cut.

The Saints will keep five linebackers on the 53-man roster. The Starting three look to be the same from last year, Demario Davis, Alex Anzalone and A.J. Klein. Craig Robertson and Vince Biegel are both special teams and backup linebackers who will be the vulnerable spots on the lineup for any potential competition. And there will be competition.
