Michael Thomas put in twice as much work last week.

The Saints rookie receiver heard about how much film Richard Sherman watches of his opponents and didn’t want to become another victim of the Seattle Seahawks cornerback. So he watched for tendencies and weaknesses and looked for ways to win his individual matchup.

Thomas didn’t dominate Sherman. Not many people do. But he won both times he was targeted with the cornerback in coverage, catching two passes on curl routes. His work paid off.

“I try to watch a lot of film on everyone. What was at stake, the meaning of that game to the team, every game is big, but I felt like I just needed to know everything about him,” Thomas said. “I was just a rookie. I just wanted to make my presence known, so I wanted to make sure I was on top of my game. That’s how I approach every week, but that one was one against an All-Pro corner. You kind of have to respect him.”
