One of the biggest standouts of the Saints training camp and preseason has been rookie receiver Tre’Quan Smith. Sean Payton talked about him on Saturday.
Saints rookie receiver Tre’Quan Smith has been turning heads since he first set foot on the practice field in OTAs and training camp. The third round draft pick out of the University of Central Florida is drawing heaps of praise from fans and coaches alike. Through two preseason games, he already has seven catches for 108 yards.
Though those numbers aren’t earth shattering, they’ve come in preseason games where he’s only played a limited amount. And none of those balls have been thrown by Drew Brees. Yet. Everybody and their brother is imagining how much better that will get when he’s on the other end of some passes from the future Hall of Famer.
It’s usually hard to get glowing endorsements of rookies out of Sean Payton. But he’s consistently had great things to say about him through the early days of his career as a Saint. ...
