New Orleans Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins knew coaches were going to ramp up his activity in practice Wednesday.
"They talked to me before and asked me how I felt, asked me was I ready to go," he said Thursday. "And I told them I was, so they said they were going to cut me loose."
After missing the first seven games of his career, Rankins is ready to make his NFL debut on Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers at Levi's Stadium. The Saints haven't officially added this year's first-round pick to the active roster, but both Rankins and coach Sean Payton said Thursday they expect him to be ready to play this week.
