MOBILE, Ala. — The Saints recently spoke with former Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis about an opening on the coaching staff, according to a source.

The Saints currently have an opening at defensive line coach after Bill Johnson was let go along with four other members of the coaching staff earlier this month. Linebackers coach Joe Vitt and assistant linebackers coach James Willis were also among those let go.

Davis resigned last year after alleged recruiting violations. He joined Alabama in 2014. Previously, he coached at Texas for three seasons and had a prior stint in Alabama.

The coach spent last summer working as a training camp intern with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Davis was just one of several interviews the team conducted or will conduct in the coming days. Jason Tarver, Mike Nolan and Brian VanGorder are among the other coaches being linked to New Orleans, according to various media reports.
