Martez Carter's extended absence from football is over.
The former Grambling State star running back and Richwood standout signed to the practice squad with his home-state New Orleans Saints Wednesday after "a great workout," his agent confirmed the roster move to The News-Star.
The deal runs through the remainder of the 2018 football season. A spot opened up on the practice squad at the position earlier this week when the Philadelphia Eagles lured away former Louisiana Tech tailback and New Orleans' sixth-round selection Boston Scott.
