Saints sign TE Benjamin Watson to a 3-year deal (1 Viewer)

Some may not like this signing, but I do. He does a little bit of everything, and is the type of guy everyone wants on their team.

Good signing IMO. Our offense needs a guy like this, espcially after cutting Wendy's. He seems more productive than David Thomas and has experience in many different offenses. Quality move Loomis! :9:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't Watson racking up some pretty decent stats in Cleveland last year? Cleveland isn't exactly a great passing offense, buut I seem to remember Watson starting off the year very well.

Damn fine effort there!

Wait...the New Orleans Saints broke a signing before anyone on Saintsreport.com could break the news first? Thats got to be unheard of.

At any rate, check! One more piece to the puzzle!

I've said it before and I'll say it again. After Bounty Gate and the stuff said about Spagnuolo to the press, Payton has Airline Drive on total lock down. Nothing is getting out that Payton does not want to get out. We only knew about Kennan Lewis because he sent a Tweet minutes before he arrived at the Airline Drive facility. And the TP even reported that Asomugha did not visit right before Loomis said they hit it off.

500 yards and 3 td

I'm sorry, this needs to be said. Catching 49 balls in CLEVELAND is nothing short of amazing. He had 68 catches a couple of years before that(banged up two years ago and played only 13 games). I love this signing.

The same Watson that ran down Champ Bailey?

Edit: RTB beat me to it.

Wow! He really blew up Bailey! I think I'm going to like how this guy plays the game.

Can you imagine the sheer relief this guy must be feeling to go from whatever dregs Cleveland has under center from year to year to Drew freaking Brees? Hahaha, lawwwwd.

Wow!! Didn't see this coming, but I love it!! Always been a big Watson fan, welcome aboard Ben!!! Great signing!

We don't need a receiver now. Watson is a very capable receiver and would be a #1 TE on over half of all NFL teams.

What? Not even close. Graham was strictly a blocking TE. Watson is more a receiving TE.

Yeah, he's a guy that can split out. We could see more of those bunch formation that Payton likes to use where he motions out Graham and Watson to spread out a defense that has it's base personnel on the field. Graham and Watson would then be able to work against a team's LBs in space instead of having to face a chip or work past the DE to get off the line.
