Saints sign two corners Amukamara , Russell (1 Viewer)

PRINCE AMUKAMARADB, NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Saints signed CB Prince Amukamara, formerly of the Bears.

The Saints also added cornerback KeiVarae Russell. Amukamara was signed to the Cardinals practice squad last year but never got called up to the active roster. He was previously signed and then cut by the Raiders prior to landing in Arizona. At 32 years old, the former first-round pick will likely play a rotational for New Orleans.

Russell could be an underrated find...good athletic traits, career stalled by injuries...which he should be over.

cant complain about vetern depth, if they can come in for a game or handful of plays in a pinch, then good. can only help the younger guys in the secondary

He does play very well with a great front 7. His Chicago years where really decent, but he immediately falls off in a bad situation.

Which is perfectly okay. Not all players need to be elite game changers. Just do their job efficiently within realistic expectations.
Right. He's no Xavien Howard, but I always thought he was a consistently solid cover corner. Never really got much credit for how well he performed throughout his career.

Adding some vets to the mix who are comfortable practicing at this level and heads aren't spinning. Does not mean they make the 53 but are insurance Incase the younger guys (Adebo) needs more time.

As Underhill says, these are low ball contracts that probably dont impact the cap much. Two years ago Prince was a solid No 2. If he can get back to that level of play for half or all of the season unitil Adebo matures then it is money well spent.

So are these 2 guys the opening day starting CBs?
Very possible

Now if we can just find a decent, rotational DT.
