The Saints came away from Sunday’s electrifying rout of the Rams with 49 points, a victory and apparently an unhappy star wide receiver.
Nine Saints receivers received a target in the 49-21 romp in New Orleans, and Brandin Cooks was somehow not among them. The 2014 first-round pick is putting together another impressive year, but he disappeared from Drew Brees’ vision — perhaps because he was so hot on Los Angeles’ radar — and posted Monday on Instagram appearing to show frustration.
“They tell you it’s a business,” wrote Cooks, 23. “Well I guess I have to turn into a businessman.”
The cryptic message came as ESPN reported Cooks has been upset with his usage this season, deployed more often as a decoy than their primary option.
