Saints stink at drafting LB (1 Viewer)

Other than Alex Anzalone, you really have to go back to Mark Fields in 1995 to find a LB the Saints drafted that made an impact for us, beyond that, it's Pat Swilling in 1986.
Anzalone is injury prone and was that when they drafted him. Reminds of Thomas Davis and Sean Lee. Great players but earlier in their careers couldn't stay on the field. I believe you should draft players with an injury history only if your already deep at the position but in the case of Alex by all means he is not a bad player he's a great player but a bad pick

And Anzalone can't even stay on the field.

But yeah we've been abysmal drafting linebackers.

Since Ireland arrived we have only drafted 2 LBs.
2019: Kaden Ellis
2017: Alex Anzalone

Historically yes, but everyone can agree that since Ireland arrived we have done a lot better in the draft and of the 2 LBs drafted both are still on the team. Anzalone is a good LB when healthy and it looked like Ellis was doing well until he got injured.

Historically yes, but everyone can agree that since Ireland arrived we have done a lot better in the draft and of the 3 LBs drafted all three are still on the team. Hendrickson has developed into a nice DE. Anzalone is a good LB when healthy and it looked like Ellis was doing well until he got injured.
Hendrickson wasn't drafted as an OLB. He's always been a DE. Only teams who run a 3-4 looked at him as an OLB.

Many times Hendrickson has lined up as a DT as well on obvious passing downs. A solid player with very high energy.

The sample size is TINY. We have only taken one LB in the 1st round in recent memory and it was a very late 1st round pick. It ended up being a poor selection...no question...but I'd have to imagine that if the Saints actually invested into the position more they would have much more success.
