METAIRIE, La. -- They’re 1-4, and they’re limping into the Mercedes-Benz Superdome on Sunday on a three-game losing streak.
But they’re still the Carolina Panthers.
The team that went 15-1 last season on its way to the Super Bowl. The team that has won the NFC South the past three years. The team that has won three in a row against the New Orleans Saints and six of the past eight.
“I think they’re as good now as they’ve been,” said Saints quarterback Drew Brees, who called Panthers linebackers Luke Kuechly and Thomas Davis “one of the best tandems, certainly in the business now, but maybe ever.”
