Call it a short week, but the reality is the New Orleans Saints should be well prepared for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they resume practice Tuesday.

The game between the two teams Saturday at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will be their second meeting in 13 days, after the Bucs' 16-11 victory Dec. 11 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Fla.

Saints coach Sean Payton said before the first game that some of the game plan could carry over when the teams meet a second time, especially when those contests are spaced so close together.

"Typically it would be a self-scout after the first game played," he said Dec. 7. "When you're playing a game in two weeks, surface is different, different venue and yet there might be a handful of the game plan that does not get used in this game, but it's on the call sheet defensively and offensively."

The Dec. 11 meeting marked one of the poorer showings in quarterback Drew Brees' career, as he was intercepted three times and posted a 48.5 passer rating.

The Saints that day trailed 10-0 before they gained a first down, and their struggles on third downs and inefficiency inside the 20 also plagued them in a second consecutive loss.
