If after 3 years in the program he still isn't playing up to his potential, then yeah, he probably will be on blast.

First off, that is not true. He has had one year on the practice squad and one year on the roster. That is 2 years. After this season would be "after 3 years in the program." Secondly, there is still some hope after considering how long Lance Moore took to develop into a contributor with the team.

In after his 3rd year would include the completion of his 3rd year he is actually here after his 2nd year.

Let me ask you this wouldn't it benefit him and the team to get better or do you prefer to see him fail and get cut at this point?

This is his third year here. Look at Lance Moore, I will look at the guy who came in with him Willie Sneed, or the guy who is dropping Coleman down the depth chart Tommylee. Coleman is the 5th best wr here, and if any of the guys behind him can make an impact, or if the right guy hits the market, Coleman is likely gone.

I wish Nicks had panned out honestly. But Coleman is here, and he is the #5 wr for now. Good for him if he makes the team, but if the right guy hits the market I wouldn't put it past the FO to pick that guy up.

It will be interesting to see what happens at wr. But I think with Cooks, Thomas, Sneed, and Lewis ahead of him, if Coleman is on the field its probably for blocking and not for catching.

Thank goodness we picked Thomas and he's doing great, otherwise either TLL or Coleman would be our 4th WR.

If he gets cut, then a lot of reps were wasted versus Houston. Someone else could have had those reps like RJ Harris or Reggie Bell or Jake Lampman or Dangerfield, etc.

The reps aren't wasted if they're used to determine whether he's a fit for this team

For those trying to crucify Coleman based on the report of Byrd breaking up a pass to him in the endzone, it was a good play on Byrd's part. The ball itself was actually thrown kind of low, so Coleman didn't have a chance to go up and get it. He was also covered by Breaux on that play. Had that ball been up in the air, he may have had a shot at it.

You know, it really isn't that important. If your no. 4 or 5 WR play like a no 2 or 3, chances are you can't pay them anyway. They'll sign with the highest bidder.

Good point. I don't know why I am getting so worked up about Coleman, when during the season he will hardly be talked about (if at all).

It seems a lot of people over look that fact. Even if you're lucky enough with the draft and UDFA to have starter quality depth at every position, you're not going to be able to re-sign all of them. Backups who are good enough to be starters will always leave to be starters somewhere else and get paid more.

I think Madden and fantasy football have warped a lot of people's understanding of the limitations that teams deal with when building their rosters.

From a poster who was there

Byrd makes a very nice int, jumped higher than Coleman to bring it in. Very nice! Drew throwing.
