Dang… that Thursday injury report was disheartening, but the show must go on.
The Saints are looking at being down Armstead, Ramcyzk, Kamara, and Hill on offense, as well as some solid depth guys on defense. Montgomery is also out with that pinky.
The fill-ins are Hurst, Jordan Mills/Landon Young, Ingram, and ? (for Hill , his role is unique).
- Hurst has played pretty well and he’s a valuable piece. I think they could be OK at LT.
- Mills is a former starter and a vet. The experience is there for spot-duty. Young is an unproven rookie, but he graded-out really well during preseason action. The loss of Ramcyzk is big, but it’s not a total slam dunk of a dumpster fire.
*To be honest, last week vs the Titans… Hurst had to move to LT and Throckmorton to LG… and both of them played better than RUIZ. Ruiz is still the weak-link even with 2 backups manning the entire left side.*
-
Ingram showed he still has the juice to get the job done. I think they could be OK there once again… they’ll need TJJ to help some, or Adams to come up and carry some weight.
- There’s really no “fill-in” for Taysom Hill, his role is just so differentiated from the norm. I will say this though… the Eagles can struggle vs TEs. This could be a game where Juwan Johnson flashes or Trautman actually helps the team overall.

The Eagles have some talent on the front 4 of their defense, and Darius Slay will likely further limit the already struggling passing offense. The Eagles can be run on though, and their pass defense also has some holes. It all depends on if the patchwork OL can hold up.
This could be a big game for a TE or Deonte Harris. They’re going to need Ingram to find some success.

The key to the game (IMO) is the Saints defense, and their ability to contain Jalen Hurts. If the Saints win… it’ll have just about everything to do with the defense and special teams.
Hurts is the key… if he can break contain and scramble for key yards, it’s going to hurt. I’m not sure what the plan will be, but I hope it’s a good one.
Lattimore has to step up and take away Smith. If Latt takes it seriously, he’ll get it done I think.
Saints have to stay strong in run defense. The Eagles are a running team, so force them out of their comfort zone.

This game will be decided in the trenches. The Saints defense has to carry them this week… and the offense just has to score when they have their chances.

Saints- 23
Eagles -21

Hurt’s killed us last year and unless DA has a solid plan to limit his running then I don’t think our Offense will keep up with theirs.

Smith is basically a better Calvin Ridley. I see this going poorly for Latt. These type of guys seem to be really difficult for him to guard.

Goedert just got an insane contract for his production up until this point. You have to wonder if they are going to make a more concerted effort to feature him.

I think Smith is very talented, but I don’t believe he’s as fast as Ridley or as strong. They are about the same height, but Smith is about 20lbs lighter than Ridley. I agree that Latt has had trouble in the past with the smaller faster/quicker WRs, but hopefully he can get physical with Smith and hold him in check.

Goedert took a hard hit to the head last week and was then ruled out with a concussion. I think he returned to practice (maybe in a limited fashion) yesterday, but concussions can slow guys down for a while until they completely recover… Plus, Malcolm Jenkins and co. have done pretty well vs opposing TEs.

The thing that really kill a defense, with a QB that can run like Hurts, is man-to-man…
In man defense, you’ve got DBs turning their backs to the QB while in coverage, and that can lead to big gains for scrambling QBs.
…but, the Saints are more of a man-to-man defense, so hopefully they can play some hybrid defense and/or assign a “spy” to watch Hurts.
…the absence of CJGJ hurts in that regard. Maybe Kwon and/or Werner can mark Hurts and make him pay early for trying to run.

At this point in the season and the games we had, everything is possible

Hard to predict anything when we lost to teams we shouldn’t and totally destroyed teams being considered the best in the league.

Just let’s see and enjoy the game.

Iam seeing this season in a preseason way. Just tryout guys and see what we can build next year

The injury situation is really a bummer going into this game…
When you step back and really look at it, it’s a wonder that the Saints have been so competitive this season… and that’s a testament to the coaching staff.

-Down to their 3rd string QB
-Top 3 RB in the league is OUT
-#1 WR has been out all season, and an UDFA return specialist from Assumption is the best WR.
-Down to their 2nd string LT, 3rd string LG, and 3rd string RT! …and I’m still more worried about Ruiz at RG than anything else!
-Taysom Hill, the Swiss Army Knife of offensive weapons is out again.
-The TE situation looks like a major disappointment, and an UDFA WR in the process of converting to TE is the best option (passing wise) they have.
-2 key rotational DL (Tanoh and Roach) both look like they’re out.
-CJGJ, one of the better Slot defenders and hybrid DB is out.

It’s really unbelievable

Question :

With AK out once again, Mark Ingram will be tasked with leading the RB corps in Philly…
Ty Montgomery was supposed to help fill that AK void a little, but guess what?, he’s hurt now too!

So… who do you think is the best option to give Ingram a little relief come Sunday?
-TJJ could come off IR, but he hasn’t played in a while… and he’s never carries the ball more than 3 times in a real NFL game without getting injured.
-Josh Adams could come up from the PS, but he’s new to the offense, and was practically out of the game since his stint with Philly.
-Dwayne Washington will be active for certain, but he’s a Special Teamer. I have no faith in him as an actual RB, and I think Id rather see TQS get carries over D-Wash.

The match up in most positions is:

Sure don’t look good, do it!

☹️☹️☹️

But after being DNP the last 2 days, Taysom was listed as limited today. They probably gave him extra days to let him heal some more from the foot injury, then put him out there today to see how it feels. He’ll probably be a game time decision. But IMO, as long as he’s totally over the concussion, dude’s so tough, I think he plays.

We’ll see.

I looked up on TJJ, n he did practice this week. Like him or not, we need to play n play well Sunday. For the season, he’s carried the ball 19 times for 77 yds, about 4ypc. But his best game was in the opener, when he had 11 carries for 51 yds. IF he can take care of the ball, n duplicate that kind of effort in Philly, it would definitely help!

But again, we’ll see.
