The New Orleans Saints are more than set at the left tackle position, with Terron Armstead their starter locked in for the foreseeable future.
But given Armstead’s issue with injuries since occupying that starting position, the team is interested in getting a closer look at other prospects they can slot there if they have to.
The primary candidate to get that attention so far this offseason appears to be Marshall Newhouse, the veteran blocker New Orleans signed in late May, and who was featured as the left tackle with the first team during the Saints’ mandatory minicamp practices this summer.
And he should get another close look in the weeks to come at training camp.
“We really want to see what he can do, especially in the two minute situation,” Saints offensive line coach Dan Roushar said, via The Advocate.
