San Fran will try to make the Saints one dimensional (1 Viewer)

I am not too worried about that side of the ball. As long as we don't turn the ball over, our offense will go to town on the 49ers lack of a defense.

On the other side of the action, however, the 49ers have some young playmakers that we must get after. Frank Gore, Alex Smith, Antonio Bryant, and Vernon Davis are all good players making names for themselves in the NFL right now. As long as we don't let those guys run wild on us like we let the Bengals, we will win this game. (Not trying to take this thread in another direction, just voicing my opinion on this Sunday's game)

The 49'rs do not match up well to us. Does their defense creat a lot of turnovers? Nope - but better than the Saints defense. Do they stop the pass - nope. Can the stop the run - maybe.

Their problem is that we will offensively overmatch them. Then they need to scor a lot of points as we are well suited for shootouts. A Smith will not get it done and Gore will not run in multiple TD's

Walt Harris is having a pro-bowl type of season, with twice as many INTs as the entire Saints defense. He matched up w/ Torry Holt last week, following him wherever he went, and did a nice job. We need Colston back, because Harris will probably follow Horn all day, and that would leave Marques with a really nice matchup!

I watched the 49er game last night and I wouldn't say that Walt Harris did a nice job. JMO.

Every team's goal is to try and make their opponent one-dimensional.

Wouldn't you agree that our goal Sunday is to make the Niner's one dimensional also? Stop Gore and make Alex Smith beat us with his arm?

The only problem with the Niners doing it to us and being effective is, it probably wouldn't work.

As another poster said, their best chance to beat us is to try and create turnovers... In addition, trying to keep our O off the field with TOP and ball control would also help them.

We all know what it will take for the Saints to win - Just don't turn the ball over....

First of all the 49ers are a one dimensional team. They are Frank Gore running the ball and Alex Smith passing for short gains to keep the chains moving. If we stop the run and bring the heat all day, and don't turn the ball over, the 49ers are dead meat.

Hahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahhaah

Why would any team in the NFL short of possibly the Indianapolis Colts want to engage the Saints in a shoot-out?

I suppose they think that's their best chance to force turnovers, but come on. Brees? Record pace passing season? And Alex Smith is going to keep up?

Well, their strategy for trying to make us beat them with the pass is good because when you throw, you increase your chances of getting turnovers. Ints, tipped balls for ints, and three and outs. The Saints though are a team that can put you away with their passing attack: Saints 48
49er's 17

So if we stop the run, does that make the 49ers a ZERO dimensional team?

So they want to put us in passing situations? The #1 ranked passing offense? You wanna make em pass the ball when your pass D is horrible?

Ok, there are more variables for mistake in the pass, but at the rate we're going, that's one heck of a gamble. If they do try to stop our pass, pound, pound, pound away. The more we run, the more we control the ball and clock. Fine by me. Try and stop us.

Another thing. How do you stop this passing attack when there are SO many weapons to give the ball to? Put in that nickle D or even 6 DB's. "You better, run all day and run all night.........."

Has anyone on this thread realized that the Saints lost their last three games when we were a one dimentional team????????? The Saints are better when the offense is more balanced. Why would you be happy with a strictly passing?

The offense is very rarely balanced. 3 games out of the season (Cleveland, MNF, first Tampa game). Most of the time we run a 59/41 pass/rush ratio.

Is this guy serious we have the best passing O in the league why would he try to say they want us to pass?
